Launches I Love: Bonobos Fall 2014 Men’s Suit Collection

Gentlemen, take note: the ladies love a man in a good tux. However we know that a good tux, especially one you feel great about investing in, can be hard to find. The same goes for a modern suit or stylish updated blazer. Enter Bonobos with their recently launched Fall 2014 Men’s Suit Collection, and oh man is it good. For those not in the know, Bonobos is a men’s clothing company  full of well-designed, well-fitting clothes- everything from your basic pant to outerwear, formal attire, accessories (I love the super cool pocket squares!) and more.

The new collection is chock full of luxurious wool suits, tweed blazers, and tuxedos that feel perfectly at home in the crisp, falling-leaf-filled-air of Autumn. The suits and blazers have been updated on the interior as well, and not just with fun fabrics- say goodbye to awkwardly fishing for your business cards and hello to a new ergonomic interior pocket that allows you to quickly and smoothly whip out those babies and start networking.

These suits are classic in design but fun in their fabrics- I am particularly obsessed with the Capstone Slim Tuxedo in Blackwatch Plaid. This is the absolute perfect plaid for both fall and early winter, especially holiday, parties, and makes just enough of a statement. If you prefer something a little more subtle, try the Capstone Slim in either Grey Honeycomb if you want a bit of texture, or Navy Herringbone for something classic.

Don’t worry if you’re not in need of Black Tie though, you can still get in on the fun! I love the Capstone Slim Suits as well as the tuxedos, particularly the Grey Windowpane (pictured above). The luxurious tweeds and wools used in both the suits and blazers are perfectly cozy and fall-ish, and work just as well dressed up as they do dressed down. Personally, my favorite Blazer would have to be the Nottingham in any of the tweeds, though I am particularly smitten with the Grey Tweed Nottingham (and not just because of the photos below- hellooo sexy!)

The Secret to Fashion Week

Hanneli3

Fashion week is here! That means its time for all the designers to put on a fashion show and shows us what we can expect come Spring 2015! We all know the runway shows are great, but the real secret to fashion week isn’t inside the tents; it’s out on the street. Street Style has never been stronger, and this coming fashion month we can expect no less. While there are always questionable outfits and those who have no purpose in lurking outside a show in their craziest outfit other than in trying to get photographed and instantly become street-style-famous, it is impossible not to see dozens of truly stylish people everywhere you look. From the sometimes upwards-of-8 clothing changes Anna Dello Russo makes, to Ulyana Sergeenko and Mira Duma in couture, from the ever-constant bob and sunglasses of Anna Wintour to the uniform of black denim jeans, a button down, and sky high heels favored by Emmanuelle Alt, no outfit is ever boring. No matter if the outfit is flashing with sequins and neon lights or is just a beautiful, simple suit, there is beauty, whether conventional or unconventional, everywhere you look.

Both the inside and outside of fashion week are fun- whether you are seeing it in person or on a screen. I thought I’d share a few of my favorite designers who will be live streaming their shows, so you can get a feel for the inside, and a few of my favorite street style photographers, so you can get a feel for the outside too! And, because I’m feeling a little nostalgic about missing my first fashion week/month in almost four years, I thought I’d throw in a few of my favorite street style photos I’ve taken during New York, Paris, and London Fashion Weeks (I’m coming for you Milan!).

Enjoy!

Presenting Eloise

EL_8

As I mentioned in a previous post, we spend our entire senior year at Parsons designing and creating a small, 4-6 look collection. My collections was based on Eloise, the little girl who lives at the Plaza Hotel in New York City with her Nanny, pug Weenie, and turtle Skipperdee. For those of you who are not familiar, Eloise could best be characterized by the words cheeky, silly, exhausting, hilarious, and just a little bit naughty. My thesis collection was designed for girls ages 4-10- so the 6-year-old Eloise was a perfect inspiration.

After the hardest, busiest, most stressful and sleep deprived ten+ months of my life working on this collection, my vision was finally realized! I am so proud of this collection- especially the fact that I made every single piece myself, and I’m so happy with how it turned out- I hope you all love it as much as I do!
